MED 7 PORT CYLINDER HEADS
7 PORT ALLOY SERIES 6 RACE HEAD
We offer three stages of modification on our new 7 port cylinder head casting. The following is an over view of our full race version running our series 6 lightweight valve assembly. You will find the three specifications at the bottom of this page.
The head arrives at our workshop without any water jacket gallery holes that normally allow the coolant to flow between the head and cylinder block, without these holes it allows us to run a dry deck system. This unique system keeps the cylinder head temperature uniform by running the coolant in from dry deck adaptor on the cylinder head and out through the thermostat housing creating a full cross flow of coolant.
With us starting with a bare alloy head casting it allows us to machine the full radius valve seats on the inlet and exhaust which we have developed on both flow bench and dyno over the past few years.
The ports are fully modified to our own specification with full valve guide boss removal on both inlet and exhaust, extra attention is paid to the long turn radius where the extra flow is gained.
The race cylinder head comes with 37.0mm inlet and 30.0mm exhaust valves. These are our own bespoke design produced from a one piece plasma nitride forging with a lightweight 6mm stem and 3 angle valve seat, probably the best valve by far that is available for the A series engine.
Valve spring seats are then machined to correct any out of tolerance. We fit our own specially designed 6mm silicon bronze valve guides, valve seats are then recut to race tolerances to maintain both valve spring fitted length and combustion chamber volume, after this process the valve seats are blended into the combustion chamber and ports.
The combustion chamber is then machined and corrected for volume, the head is then skimmed to achieve the desired volume.
Finally the head is carefully assembled with our lightweight titanium valve caps, dual rate valve springs and bespoke 6mm collets. Supplied along with the cylinder head are our button lash caps which locate inside to top of the titanium cap for the roller rockers to run on giving a greater wipe area for high lift camshaft applications
Also supplied are the dry deck adaptor to fit to the cylinder block, silicon hose, jubilee clips and 4 x 5mmfitting screws are supplied for installation when fitted to the engine.
