MIDGET XT BUILT ENGINE
Cylinder block
Fully prepared cylinder block, bored and plateau honed, refaced, cam bearings fitted, supplied and fitted centre main strap, drilled and tapped for 11 stud, hot chemically cleaned and supplied with new oilway and core plugs.
Crankshaft
Crankshaft is carefully selected then crossdrilled, wedged, and machined to our ICE specification to furher improve counterbalance. Next reground, ni-tempered and micro polished journals
Pistons
Our exclusive performance Omega pistons are supplied and fitted to conrods
Conrods etc
Conrods are lightened, polished and stress relieved then checked for alignment and fitted with ARP rod bolt set and balanced end over end
Quality bearings
Vandervell or ACL crankshaft bearings in race quality material
Cam & timing
The engine is built with our NEW XT 288 duration camshaft which is ground by Piper Cams on their state of the art CNC 3L Landis cam grinder. Also with new cam followers and a vernier adjustable duplex timing gear set for precise camshaft timing. Now also fitted with our new lightweight steel V belt pulley and gold dynamic crank damper
Clutch assembly
The flywheel assembly fitted to this engine consists of our steel ultra light 7.5 inch flywheel, our bespoke heavy duty clutch cover and an organic bonded clutch plate. This comes complete with a new roller release bearing.

Other parts to compliment the engine are steel backed oil pump, conversion gasket set and competition head gasket
Cylinder head
Fitted with our Rally Special cylinder head, along with ARP's 11 head stud kit/ and our exclusive 1.5 LD rockers. At this point all rocker geometry is checked, measured and set up accordingly. The cylinder head comes fitted with 35.7mm and 30.0mm plasma nitrided race quality valves. Wasted stems and 3 angle valve seats on both inlet and exhaust to maximize air flow. New hi-flow silicon bronze valve guides with special tapers to also aid air flow. Ports all fully modified with full valve guide boss removal and matched to the standard exhaust manifold gasket. Combustion chambers reshaped and profiled for maximum flow and with 3 angle valve seats. Lead free inserts fitted for the use with unleaded fuel and fully assembled with dual rate double valve springs.
Sump
The sump is baffled to help reduce oil surging prepared and fitted to the engine. The steel backing plate is fitted and the flywheel is assembled with ARP competition flywheel bolts.
Final touch
The finishing touch as with all MED complete units is the use of new plated external nut and bolts.
