Description

This kit includes all of the components required to build a new high performance 'MED Road Competition' head for your 1275-based A-Series engine. 

As the supply of good 1275 heads is dwindling and they're becoming ever more expensive, we now offer a brand new CNC-machined casting, with much of the hard work already complete.

These heads have not seen 25-plus years of use, so are free from the usual corrosion and damage, and we have also optimised the design for improved performance.

 



The head chambers are accurately CNC machined to the optimum profile, the extra two head stud holes drilled, inlet and exhaust ports enlarged and the restrictive standard valve guide bosses are non-existent. Hardened exhaust valve seats are fitted as standard.  

Final completion will require installation and re-sizing of the valve guides, the valve seats machined to match the valves and then, preferably, having the ports cleaned through to remove the cast finish.

You'll be able to see from the images that the first 40mm of each port is already CNC machined out our recommended 'Road Competition' size, which matches our inlet/exhaust gasket, part number MED-1914-SG.  

Chambers are pre-machined to approximately 21cc.

    • 35.7mm x 30mm single-groove competition 21NS stellite-tip valves.


    • MED EN24T steel valve caps and collets.


    • MED bronze valve guides.


    • MED 'Road' 170lb double valve spring set.


    • Viton stem seals.

     



    Cylinder head features

      • CNC machined chambers to 21cc volume.

      • 11-stud design.

      • Restrictive standard valve guide boss omitted. 

      • Thermostat bypass deleted.

      • Port profiles optimised for improved flow.

      • Valve spring platforms accurately machined for optimal fitted spring length.

      • Three-angle valve seats.

      • Hardened exhaust valve seats for unleaded fuel.

      • Heater tap take-off ready.

      • 5/8-inch UNF temperature gauge sender thread.

     


     

    Each casting is embossed with the MED logo and numbered for future traceability.
