Are all A-Series valve collets/retainers the same?

No, as there are valves with single or triple grooves on the stems. These are designed for valves with 9/32" diameter stems and a single retainer groove. The taper angle varies between single and triple groove collets and caps, so you must ensure you use the correct top caps.

Will these fit other engines?

We would only recommend these collets for use on BMC A-Series or A+ engines. Other engines may use a similar stem design, but there are several dimensions to consider.

Can I use these with standard top caps?

If the caps were originally supplied for single groove valve collets, yes. However, you'd usually upgrade the caps to MED steel or titanium versions while you're on the job.

What is the advantage of these collets?

They are CNC machined from EN24T steel, so you have increased material strength combined with precision machining. With our matching steel or titanium top caps you will be able to very accurately match fitted spring heights across the cylinder head.
