Description

These liners are produced from high quality spun GG30 cast iron with an outside diameter of 74.3mm, to allow worn-out bores to be reclaimed.

As installed in all 1293cc MED race engines, as the material quality is that much higher and more consistent than the original blocks.

With an inside diameter of 69.55mm, these can be fitted and bored to a standard (70.6mm/2.78-inch) bore size, right up to +0.060-inch (72.14mm/2.840-inch). These should be fitted to a step in the bore for the best retention.

Sold individually or as a set of four.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the benefit of installing liners in an A-Series engine?

Arrow

If the original bores have picked up damage or excess wear, and you plan to use a standard bore size or perhaps +20 for a competition engine, installing liners will allow the block to be saved. As an added benefit, the liner material is more hard wearing than most original cylinder bore walls, so this installation will further prolong the life of the block.

Which engine blocks will these fit?

Arrow

Any 1275 A-Series engine, Mini or inline such as MG Midget/AH Sprite.

How are the liners fitted?

Arrow

These will need to be installed by a competent machine shop. Firstly the engine bores are enlarged to allow the liners to be pressed into place, being careful to leave a step at the base of each bore. The liners are pressed down to this step, the excess material milled flush to the top of the block and finally the liners are re-bored and finish honed to the chosen size.

Can they be used to repair a worn 1380cc engine, 73.5mm bores?

Arrow

With an outside diameter of 74.3mm, potentially, although from our experience of trying to do this, the liners can move - so we would not recommend it. Aim to repair bores no larger than +60 (2.840" / 72.14mm), which will give enough material in the block to leave a pronounced step at the bottom of each bore.

Is it possible to install individual liners, if only one bore has been damaged?

Arrow

It has been done, but we would not recommend doing this, as it can potentially distort the adjacent bores. Ideally order a set of four to refresh the whole engine block.
