Precision machined from steel billet on the latest CNC machinery, the MED clutch centre will fit all Verto clutch covers including SPi and MPi types.

This heavy-duty centre boss is highly recommended when installing an MED Steel Verto Flywheel.

Which cars does this suit?

This centre boss is designed for the Verto-style clutch assembly, as introduced on the classic Mini and Metro from the early 1980s. This style of clutch and flywheel was retained until the end of production in 2000, covering all carburettor and fuel injection models.

How does it improve upon the standard item?

These are machined from steel billet to a very accurate finish by CNC, giving excellent fit on the end of the crankshaft and correct alignment of the clutch cover and flywheel.

Do I need to lap this on to my crankshaft taper?

Yes it's a good idea on a well used crankshaft, to ensure the mating surfaces are perfectly matched. If there is more substantial damage to the crankshaft taper, we would suggest looking for an alternative option, as a new boss is unlikely to improve the situation.

Does this fit in a specific position on the crankshaft and clutch cover?

Yes, the flywheel key washer and end of the crankshaft are machined offset, so this will only fit in one position on the end of the crankshaft. The cover mounting holes, likewise, only align in one specific location.
