Exclusive to MED, our competition cover for the Verto-style clutch is ideal for later Minis with higher states of tune. We move from two drive straps to three and fit a heavy-duty spring for greater clamping force.

As part of the build, we precision surface grind the flywheel mounting face to ensure the assembly runs true. We've found that standard clutch covers can run out of true by up to 0.040", and the flywheel mounts directly to this.

We also enlarge the flywheel puller access holes to aid removal.

When assembled as a kit with an MED steel flywheel and organic clutch plate, these will hold around 150lb.ft torque, making them ideal for a highly modified 1275 engine.

This is suitable for any Verto flywheel assembly, including both MPi and SPi Minis. Fits the heavy duty MED steel clutch centre.

We consider it essential to have the clutch cover and flywheel balanced as an assembly. However, if you wish to have only the cover itself balanced, we can offer this as a service; just select 'balanced with new centre boss' from the dropdown menu.

This is suitable for any Verto flywheel assembly, including those for SPi and MPi Minis.

Does this suit all classic Minis?

Only those with the Verto-style clutch, which was introduced in the early 1980s, and used until the end of production in 2000. So this also suits SPi and MPi Minis.

How does this improve upon the standard Verto clutch cover?

We have found that standard replacement clutch covers can vary considerably in dimensions, often causing flywheel assemblies to run out-of-true. To remedy these issues, we strip, re-machine and rebuild the covers to give a much better quality product, saving headaches when it comes to flywheel assembly and balance. In addition, we install extra drive straps and a thicker spring, which almost doubles the torque holding ability.

Is this cover pre-balanced?

No, it's only when assembled to a centre boss that an accurate balance can be made. If you select the option with MED centre boss included, we can build this up and balance the cover to within a gram, ready to fit and balance the flywheel.

Will this suit a standard Mini flywheel?

Yes, either standard original Rover flywheels or MED steel upgraded lightweight versions. We can't be sure these will suit other aftermarket flywheels from alternative suppliers.

What is the difference between this and the MED Performance Verto clutch cover?

This version has triple drive straps in place of the standard double setup, with an uprated main spring. This increases torque holding from 80lb.ft to 150lb.ft, making this the go-to upgrade for more powerful engine builds.
