MINI ALLOY SUMP GUARD
Description
This heavy-duty aluminium sump guard gives much-needed protection for the Mini's vulnerable gearbox casing. These are perfect for avoiding speed bump damage on lowered Minis.
Front ventilation holes keep a flow of air to the gearbox housing.
Please note - some surface marks may be present on the covers, being hand made from aluminium, but you can really polish these up on a show car if that's your thing!

How does this fit a classic Mini?
With help from an assistant, position the guard under the sump so that it fits the profile of the front subframe, then mark and drill to suit. There are four 10mm holes for the rear and seven on the front, although using four 3/8" or M10 bolts on the front lip should give plenty enough strength here. We do not supply fixings, as everyone will have their own preference, and it saves cost if you already have nuts and bolts.
What's the purpose of this guard?
The gearbox housing sits quite close to the ground on lowered Minis, and is particularly vulnerable to damage from large speed bumps, kerbs or other obstacles on the road. A large impact can easily crack the gearbox housing, which can be catastrophic if you then loose all the oil. This alloy guard gives much-needed extra protection and is very popular for road rally cars.
How much does it weigh?
The sump guard is made from 5mm thick aluminium and weighs just over 2.1kg. This added weight sits very low in the car and is a small price to pay for the protection!
Can I still access the sump plug?
Yes the sump guard can remain fitted for oil changes, as there's a handy cut-out for access to the sump plug and draining the oil.
