MED VALVE SPRING SEAT WASHERS

Description
A set of eight specially-machined heat-treated washers to sit beneath the valve springs.
These are used to perfect the fitted spring length and tension on high performance engines.
Available in three thicknesses, 0.5mm to 1.5mm. Please note, we do not recommend using the 0.5mm shims in isolation.
Frequently Asked Questions
When do I need to use valve spring seat washers?

These can be used to ensure the valve springs are compressed to the optimum length to give the recommended valve spring seat pressure. If the measurement between the underside of the valve stem top cap and the valve spring seat platform is too much, the spring pressure will be too low. Use these spacers to achieve the correct fitted length.
Which size do I need?

It will vary from one application to another, and the springs in question. Check with the spring supplier for the recommended fitted length, take a measurement as above and choose from there.
If my valve spring fitted length is different across the head, can I run different spacers on different valves/springs?

Yes but it's not ideal. If the lengths are all different, it would suggest the spring seat platforms have not been levelled up, the valve seats have been cut to different depths or the valve caps/collets are worn. Ideally address these issues or you will likely have different levels of valve lift across the head, which will be detrimental to performance.
Why do you not recommend using the 0.5mm washers in isolation?

At this thickness, regardless of the heat treatment and material strength, the thinnest shims can wear prematurely with more extreme spring pressures and loads in a race engine. Sandwiched between other washers, however, these work well.
How many washers/shims are in a set?

Eight - one for each valve spring.
Will these fit all engines?

No, we only make these for BMC A-Series (and A+) engines.
