Description

The MED manifold stud kit makes an excellent upgrade over the standard studs and nuts for both longevity and looks. It is available as a stand-alone kit, or with a matching thermostat stud set.

    Manifold kit contents:

      • Composite inlet/exhaust manifold gasket

      • 6x stainless steel inlet manifold studs

      • 6x stainless steel serrated flanged nuts

      • 4x large washers, two small washers

    Complete kit contents:

      • Composite inlet/exhaust manifold gasket

      • 6x stainless steel inlet manifold studs

      • 9x stainless steel serrated flanged nuts

      • 4x large washers, two small washers

      • Competition thermostat housing gasket

      • 3x stainless steel thermostat studs

Please note, the complete kit will only suit engines with a regular thermostat housing setup, or one of our billet aluminium thermostat housings.

It will not suit injection Minis with a spacer plate, as the studs are too short.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Should I choose the standard or competition gasket?

    Arrow

The standard gasket has 36mm diameter inlet ports and 30x26mm exhaust ports, whereas the competition version is larger - 41mm inlets, 35x28mm exhausts. Otherwise they are the same spec.

Is the gasket a standard material?

    Arrow

No, this is a bespoke gasket that's cut from a specialised graphite composite material with stainless steel reinforcement. Over the years we have tried all manner of gasket materials on the A-Series cylinder head with varying degrees of success. Unlike many modern engines, a single gasket seals both exhaust and inlet manifold faces. The latest design, exclusive to MED, gives the best alignment to the ports, and we've found this specific material to offer the best seal. They work really well.

    Can I re-use the gasket?

    Arrow

Perhaps in an emergency, but we would usually fit a new one when changing the manifolds or removing the cylinder head.

What are the studs made from?

    Arrow

These are stainless steel, as are the flanged nuts to match.

Is there a recommended torque setting?

    Arrow

If you can access the nuts with a torque wrench, use the standard factory recommendation of 14lb.ft. Typically we would tighten with a spanner by feel.
