Donington Park 2023

Rounds 3-4, Mini Se7en Championship

After doing some further development work to the Paul Inch-built engine, we arrived at Donington Park with high hopes of some good race results.

With plenty of time on the rolling road, we were quite confident the car was where it needed to be to challenge at the front. Unfortunately, we developed a fuelling issue in qualifying where the mixture was becoming too lean and in turn melting the spark plugs.

This led to qualifying somewhere near the back of the field. We tried addressing the issue for race 1, but within a lap the same problem had reoccurred resulting in a DNF. Typically it was one of those problems only apparent on the track.

The only positive out of the weekend was in race 2. We started from P11 and managed to work our way up to P1 within 2 laps - it was rapid!

Crossing the line on lap 3 though, the problem became apparent again, I had to call it quits and come in to the pits for another DNF.  It was a massively unfortunate weekend for me but the car shown real promise in the last race so we’re confident we can get back to where we belong.

The next round is at Snetterton on 13-14 May.
